The Finance Club

The Finance club is one of the largest clubs at ISB. In a typical class at ISB, the club comprises members with Banking, Corporate Finance, Trading, M&A and Private Equity backgrounds. Moreover, the entire spectrum of experience from 2-3 years to 10+ years of work experience is also represented at the club – providing an excellent platform for sharing experiences. The club has around 150-200 members across both campuses.

Key Events

The finance club organizes various sessions round the year including alumni speaker series, sessions on personal finance, risk management workshop, P2P sessions on various finance courses as well as on careers in finance – particularly helpful for students who do not have prior experience in this field. One of the most well received events of the year is the industry trek in which students get to visit top investment banks and Private Equity funds such as Blackstone, Axis Capital, Matrix Partners etc. in their offices in Mumbai.

The club also helped in placement preparation by organizing various resume reviews, mock GDs and interviews. This helped club members get personalized feedback and helped them be at their best during placements.

New initiatives

In the class of 2016, the club undertook various new initiatives. An alumni mentorship program was launched, connecting students with alumni from their target fields. The Finance lab was established at the Mohali campus (with the support of co2015) allowing students access to Bloomberg terminals on campus – a big boon for financial research and analysis projects!

Artha 2015 – the flagship annual conference

The club organized Artha 2015 – the annual finance conclave of ISB at ITC Grand Central Hotel, Parel, Mumbai. While Mr. PJ Nayak, an authority on banking in India, kicked off the event as the keynote speaker, the event was also attended by Sanjay Nayar (CEO, KKR India), Nitin Nayar (Warburg Pincus India), Prashanth Prakash (Accel Partners) and Ashish Bhinde (Avendus Capital) to name a few. The event, sponsored by IDFC and Furlenco, was attended by more than 350 delegates including students, alumni and industry professionals.

Overall, the Finance club provides students with various networking opportunities, helps them prepare for their dream jobs, and fosters knowledge sharing amongst students with finance and non-finance backgrounds.
