Your Opinion on the approach of the interviewers and their key focusPretty chilled out. I guess most of the candidates in the waiting room mentioned the same after their interviews and I definitely experienced the same. It is based more on what you’ve mentioned in the profile.

Qn: How are you associated with the Green Bhatti project?
A: Told him that my cousin brother is the founder of the project and he offered me a mentorship role in that project.

Follow-up Qn: What was your role and how did you contribute to the cause?
A: I told him that I’ve been associated with it for about a year and a half & have mentored 3 kids during this period….They do have proper schooling due to the initiatives like Teach for India etc. but they lack in areas such as soft skills etc.

Qn: You seem to be really good with numbers.
A: Yes sir. That’s my Bread and butter.

Qn: What is 35% of 1 lac 44 thousand?
A: 50,400

Qn: 42% of 3.75 crores
A: 1.575 Crores

Qn: Your co. has bought humongous amounts of land in Jharkhand and Bengal for Steel projects and is not still operational. What is your take on the same?
A: Sir, in Bengal we had environmental clearance issues, and hence we could not put up a Steel Plant up there, so we went ahead and returned a part of the land and then set up a 2.4 million tonne Cement plant there, which was inaugurated a few months back by none other than the CM of WB, Mamata Banerjee.

Qn: What about Jharkhand?
A: Sir, everybody knows North India is a difficult place to set up businesses due to land issues and political issues. We do have plans and did demonstrate our plans about the Jharkhand plant at the Make in India week too.

Qn: But you have taken away land from tribals. What happens to them?
A: People did relocate to areas such as WB, but you will also have to realize the fact that we ended up paying big sums for acquiring their lands, their future is secured for the next 6-7 years….But, if the plant does come up, then not only are we having a steel plant but ancillary units would set up plants to cater our purposes, so more industrialization and development.

Qn: Now, show us your strategy skills. I’m providing you with the sponsorships and you need to arrange a whole marathon.
A: Started off with permissions from local authorities and then went on with other aspects such as medical assistance, volunteers, security, water resources, advertising for sponsors, pricing for participants etc. (9 points in total)

Qn: You said Manpower – How many?
A: Would depend on the no. of participants

Qn: 40 Thousand
A: Would there be a breakup of participants for 7 kms, 21 kms and 42 kms.

Qn: Yes, of course. 24 Thousand, 12 Thousand and 4 Thousand respectively.
A: Sir, I think if we make an assumption that we need 1 volunteer for approx. 200 participants, we would need 200 volunteers and another 10 to probably manage these 200 volunteers. That would mean almost 4 volunteers for every km.

Qn: But later stages would have lesser participants
A: I told him that later stages would require more assistance due to the rigour.

Qn: How much water is required?
A: Again based on assumptions, I would say approx. 1 ltr. For the 7km participants, 5 ltrs. For the 21 km participants, 10 ltrs approx. for 42 km participants

Qn: Great, but I think you’re still a CA first because it was money first for you
A: Sir, I think that’s what matters at the end of the day!
