Max Institute of Healthcare Management (MIHM), one of the 4 institutes at ISB’s Mohali campus has a vision “to be a transformative force in the Indian Healthcare Scenario”. MIHM aims to create value across the entire health sector, within India and abroad, through research, education, and initiatives.
The institute conducts research in healthcare and related fields. It also comes up with various reports and publications from time to time. A recent publication is the book titled "India's Healthcare Industry: Innovation in Delivery, Financing, and Manufacturing" by the Programme Leader Lawton Robert Burns and James Joo-Jin Kim Professor & Chair of the Health Care Management Department at the Wharton School. PGP students interested in healthcare research can also engage with the institute through their faculty initiated research projects (FIRPs). Experiential Learning Programmes (ELPs) are another way for the PGP students to work with the institute.
The institute helps PGP students by offering world-class faculty to deliver elective courses. ISB also offers an industry specialization in healthcare which is quite popular among PGP students.
The institute also offers a Healthcare Management programme (HMP) which is a collaborative effort of ISB’s Centre for Executive Education and the Max Institute of Healthcare Management. The programme is aimed at mid-career healthcare professionals (ideally 6 to 8 years of work experience) as well as entrepreneurs in this domain. A 12-month part-time programme, the HMP is delivered through a blended learning format of classroom, online and self-learning that minimizes disruption at work and personal pursuits of candidates.
The institute convenes various events in the healthcare space. These include speaker sessions, workshops, conferences and industry events. Some events are also organized in association with the Healthcare Club of the PGP programme. A recent event was “Catalyst”, which was attended by the alumni, industry leaders, academicians and PGP students. Rehan Khan, CEO, Abbott India was a guest speaker at the event.
Mr. Analjit Singh, founder of the Max Group and a board member of ISB, is the benefactor of the institute while Mark Allan is the Executive Director of the institute.
Overall, the institute helps promote research and study of healthcare – an emerging and important sector for India. By engaging through various healthcare-focused elective courses, speaker sessions, workshops and research projects, the PGP students benefit immensely from the institute.
